3rd Party Events
If you're planning on doing an event for Community Food Sharing? Why not give us a call and we can help plan your event.
Oil and Gas Week
The annual Oil and Gas Industry Food Drive takes place every February to help restock depleted food bank supplies after the demanding holiday season.
Since inception this food drive and fund raiser has raised 525,000 pounds of food and has collected over $475,844.00.
The ongoing success of this event is due to the hard work and dedication of the oil and gas week steering committee, oil and gas industry volunteers, CAPP, NOIA and people like you who give so generously, drawing much needed attention to the valuable service that our food banks provide year round.
Tim Horton's Food Drive
In partnership with TDL Limited we launch a two-week food drive every year in St. John's and Mount Pearl Tim Horton's stores. Usually held in August or September, Tim Horton's invites its patrons to drop off a nonperishable food item when they come for their morning cup of coffee.
Every year, thanks to the generosity of coffee drinkers like you, we receive as much as $50,000 worth of food at a time of year when food bank supplies are usually low and the need is greater because some families with children going to school must spend what little money they have on clothes and school supplies.
Dominion Food Drive
In partnership with Loblaws we launch two, two-week food drives at all Dominion stores in Newfoundland and Labrador, two weeks just before Christmas and two weeks in June. Customers are invited to make a cash donation at the register or to pick up a nonperishable food item or two with their groceries and leave it at the in-store food bin.
Through this partnership Loblaws is helping to restock food banks and to create general awareness about the need for food banks in this province and across Canada.
CBC Feed NL
Feed NL Day will take place on Friday December 9,2016, with a 3 week promotional campaign leading up to the main event. Memebers of the community will be encouraged to donate money (and/or non-perishable food items) throughout the campaign at specified locations or online. On December 9th, a province-wide day of giving (the main event) will take place with special programming at each of CBCs locations.
One little girls caring ways make a big difference in helping the less fortunate
Grace Mootrey, age 5 and her mom Pam have begun a project whereby each month they help the less fortunate. For the month of March they had a craft fair and as admission they requested a non-perishable food item. It is this kind of caring that will keep our food banks stocked.
